Hotel Altira Macau is located in the heart of Taipa Island. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Macau Peninsula. The 38-storey complex features 216 luxuriously appointed rooms, including 24 suites and 4 spacious villas. The interior of Altira Macau Hotel was created by renowned designer Peter Remedios. The hotel combines comfort and style.

The complex was formerly called Crown Hotel. The resort was the first venture owned by Melco Crown. The atrium opened in May 2007. At first, the Sands CEO criticized the entire project, deriding the Melco Crown brand. However, in 2008, Altira became the world's busiest casino with a turnover of more than $6 billion a month.

The resort is strongly backed by Melco International Development Limited, the largest shareholder, a company led by chairman and chief executive Lawrence Ho.

The 160-meter-high hotel is the tallest building on Taipa Island.

The Altira Casino mainly offers baccarat tables. They are located on the first floors of the hotel. The slot machine section is on the main floor on the right side.

In its early days, Altira Casino was not a success with players. Gamers complained that the flow of people negatively affected successful play at the tables. A little later, A-Max came along. A conglomerate of junket operators from Hong Kong made a deal with Altira to attract high rollers to Macau. In a matter of months, VIP market share jumped from 6% to 24% and turnover increased by $8 billion a month, propelling the gambling territory to the peak of popularity and success. Today, Melco Crown owns a 15% VIP stake.

VIP gaming is available at Altira. Floors 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 17 and 37 are owned by junket operators. A small area on the first floor offers 20 tables for regular players. The casino offered five games, but Caribbean Stud poker, sic bo and roulette have been removed.

The pool was named one of the top 10 by US Forbes Traveler. Guests can swim in clear water at a comfortable temperature of 29-30 °C while enjoying soft music and magnificent views of Macau.

Services

Altire's assortment of games are notable for their consistency. It offers several slot and machine variations, as well as popular table games like baccarat and blackjack with a minimum bet of $200.
