Jay Sarno and Stanley Mullin founded Caesars Palace in 1966. They endeavored to create truly luxurious buildings that would transport visitors back to Roman times.

The first casino was named Circus Circus. The gambling area was to be the most expensive and busiest casino in the world, which would attract elite players from all over the world.

Added to the atrium's history is a three-year contract with Frank Sinatra, who has performed at the Coliseum since 1967. In October 2017, ownership of the resort was transferred to Vici Properties, but the subsidiary leased its property to Caesars Entertainment.
Harrah's Entertainment is now named Caesars Entertainment Corporation. It was founded in Reno, Nevada and is based in Paradise. The owners of the company are Apollo Global Management, TPG Capital, Paulson & Co, Carl Icahn.

Interesting fact: On December 31, 1967, stuntman Evel Knievel arrived at the hotel to watch a boxing match and convinced the resort owner that he could jump 43 meters over the fountains on a motorcycle. Reporters were invited to document the unique jump, but Knievel hit the top of the security ramp and flew into a nearby parking lot. He was taken to the hospital with a fractured pelvis, several bones and a concussion. Knievel remained in a coma for 29 days. However, in 1989, Knievel's son named Robbie successfully completed his father's failed jump.
