Bregenz attracts tourists all year round. In winter you can ski down the mountain slopes, in the warmer months you can relax by Lake Constance amidst picturesque landscapes and ancient monuments.
In the historic part of Bregenz, called the Upper Town, the following sights are of interest:
- the ancient Unters Gate - Tor built in the 13th century;
- the medieval tower of St. Martin Martinsturm, topped with a wooden dome (part of the building is occupied by the Military Museum);
- the Old Town Hall, built in 1662;
- the aristocratic Baroque Deuring Palace;
- the Gothic St. Gall's Church, famous for its unique pews made of walnut wood;
- the Vorarlberg Museum, etc.
The city has two exhibition halls, several museums, three theaters. Every year in July and August, the Bregenzer Festspiele (Bregenzer Festspiele) is held here, and a huge lake stage is built on the water for staging operas and other musical shows. More than 6,000 people can enjoy the extraordinary spectacle at the same time. Spectator seats are located on the shore, the water surface provides excellent acoustics.
In the city and its vicinity, interesting excursion routes have been developed for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and water trips are also offered. Among the tourist destinations stand out:
climbing Mt. Pfender, viewing platforms and a slope-side safari zoo;
- visiting the Adlerwarte Eagle Observatory in the nature reserve, which houses birds of prey;
excursion to the alpine cheese farm KaseStrasse Bregenzerwald; - lake cruises - "Three Countries", to Friedrichshafen with a visit to the airship museum, "Flower Island" (Germany), to Konstanz (Germany) with a visit to the Oceanarium.
Beautiful entertainment is organized for vacationers on the lake - swimming, boating, renting water bikes, beach sports, ziplines, etc. Shopping lovers can visit boutiques, shopping centers and city market.
