The Fairmont Hotel was built on the site of Monaco's first railway station. Part of its wall is still inside the hotel as a rarity. The building was completed in the early 1970s. The majestic building on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea embellished the area and blended seamlessly into the picturesque landscape of Monte Carlo. From 1975 to 1998, the Fermont Hôtel was managed by Loews Hotels. In 1998, the complex was named Grand Hotel.

In 2004, the hotel was acquired by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts for 215 million euros. Since that year, the atrium has been called the Fairmont Monte Carlo. The atrium was renovated and remodeled in 2005 and 2009.

During the annual Formula One races, drivers pass through a tunnel located directly under the hotel. It is the most dangerous section of the track, and one of the turns is still named after the complex's old name, the Grand Hotel.

The Sun Casino was erected after The Monte Carlo Casino, which was built in 1878. The gambling house, like the neighboring establishments, is owned by SBM (Societe des Bains de Mer).

The Monte Carlo complex offers vacationers more than 300 gaming options. Guests can familiarize themselves with blackjack, which is played for an hour under the supervision of experienced croupiers. One table can accommodate 7 gamers, three tables are available for a total of 21 people. The minimum bet is €100 and the maximum is €700.

Electronic roulette is located both in the hall and outdoors. Guests can play on their own or online.
