Palace Station Hotel and Casino Las Vegas story

In 1976, former Fremont CEO Frank Fertitta Jr. and his partners opened The Casino complex, which had a 460-square-foot gambling area. A year later, they added bingo, and the property was renamed the Bingo Palace. The gambling area was aimed mainly at locals, offering inexpensive food, gifts and the opportunity to play bingo.

In 1984, the complex was expanded and modernized. It was remodeled with a railroad station style and renamed the Palace Station Hotel and Casino. A special train-themed neon sign was created for the hotel, which reached a height of 38 meters. A year after the complex opened, Fertitta purchased the adjacent hotel, which had 465 rooms. In 1990, the complex added a 21-story tower and parking garage, totaling 1,041 rooms.

A $192 million renovation of the complex began in the fall of 2016. The renovation was completed two years later. As part of the renovation, the railroad theme was removed and the design was updated. The faux locomotives on the building's facade were removed, and one was donated to the Neon Museum along with the Palace Station sign. A renovated bingo hall opened in 2017.

In September 2018, the modernized facility officially opened. More than 500 machines, parking on the east side, 4 restaurants, a buffet, and a movie theater were added.

The hotel has had various incidents in different years, such as a casino cashier was robbed in 1992, a fire broke out on the 21st floor of the hotel in 1998 after a lightning strike, and a car was robbed in the parking lot in 2009. In 2007 the atrium was also robbed and some memorabilia was taken.
