Cheating at Roulette: A Real Story

Roulette Fraud

On Casinoz, we have already discussed some cheating methods in roulette. One of the most striking fraudsters who chose this game was Pierre Dugal. We'll remind you that he was hiding in the casino before closing and, being a great carpenter, brought subtle but tangible changes in the wheel. As a result, the ball often stopped where he wanted.

It would seem that, at the moment, this is impossible because casinos are guarded round the clock, and roulette tables are under constant video surveillance. However, progress is not in place, and thanks to the achievements of modern science, something like that manages to crank current scams.

Stories of Real Roulette Cheaters

A few years ago, I talked heart-to-heart with a former customer in the casino where I had worked. This guy was known as a light-fingered player. Most local clubs refused to let him in, though no one could catch him in the act. I confess we followed the same path. One day, we found a ridiculous excuse to drive him out of our casino.

During our conversation, I was overwhelmed with mixed feelings. I admired his cheating methods and was ashamed of my unprofessionalism, which did not allow me to catch him red-handed because some cheats were carried out in the casino where I worked first as a pit boss and later as a manager.

He reminded me about another client, already dead, who used to play roulette and almost always won. As far as I know, he was successful in most casinos.

It turned out that the reason for this luck was a bottle with a specific solution. It covered any surface with the finest, transparent, very hard, and slippery layer that was almost impossible to distinguish from ordinary varnish.

The solution was applied to specific sectors on the roulette wheel, and the ball landed in them very rarely, bouncing from the hard coating.

Many casino employees had access to roulette. More precisely, almost any dealer could train to play roulette whenever it was unoccupied by customers. Cleaners dusted and polished the wheel. Thus, it was impossible to find out who helped the cheater.

The solution used by the fraudster was not something unique. This was a slightly modified substance actively used in the industry.

Other Roulette Cheating Techniques

But it was not the only cheating that various gamblers told me about. Here are some of them:

  • stealing roulette chips from dealers and players,
  • using mini cameras and computers,
  • substituting bets,
  • fiddling with equipment,
  • forcing dealers to make mistakes, etc.

So stay tuned for new articles on Casinoz. They will be fascinating!
